In October, Ukrainian traders sold about 120 thousand tons of peas in the Spanish market.
It should be noted that this is three times higher than the September figure: then the Spanish buyers purchased a little less than forty thousand tons of the same product.
“Spain is the undisputed leader in the purchase of Ukrainian peas this year and in the past,” experts say. “For both seasons, the Spaniards bought back more than half of the total volume of imports of this leguminous crop.”
Perhaps the fact is that hot Spaniards love pea dishes, add a product to the national delicacy - paella, and gladly prepare a favorite dinner from it - "Catalan peas."
“We just soak the peas in water at room temperature for the whole night, and in the morning we put it in a pressure cooker, season with garlic and add water. Slightly salt and cook for 40-45 minutes, - the Spanish housewives share a secret. - Then we add slices of brisket, tomato puree, a little butter and favorite spices into the dish. Stew for another 40 minutes and enjoy eating for dinner.
In the meantime, sultry Spanish women indulge loved ones with their favorite dish, Ukrainian traders also make pea deliveries to Yemen and Germany (22 thousand and 19 thousand tons, respectively). They can’t do without Ukrainian peas in India, which also bought about 20 tons of product from Ukrainian suppliers last season.
According to analysts, this season the gross yield of Ukrainian peas is about 800 thousand tons. This, as experts say, allows you to generate exports in the amount of 510 thousand tons. What pleases, Ukraine has already realized more than half of this potential.
