Today, pig breeding in Ukraine remains the most expensive industry at cost. At the same time, the production of poultry meat has the lowest cost and amounts to € 0.65 / kg without VAT, the director of the Center for Improving Efficiency in Livestock Production, Nikolai Babaenko, said in a statement.

To date, the cost of pork production is 37-41UAH / kg, while in all respects it should be within 25 UAH / kg.

The average price of live bait pigs in 2018 was at the level of 46 UAH / kg, which saved pig farmers from damage. But this year, live pigs can already be bought for 40 UAH / kg. Without providing adequate support to pig farmers, Ukraine increased pork imports 5 times over the year.

It is the end consumer that beats the high price of pork in Ukraine.
