The leaders in the production of deer meat in Russia are the northern enterprises "Payuta" and "Yamal deer." Last year, they managed to provide the Russian market with 2.3 thousand tons of diet and organic deer meat. This year, slaughterhouse workers from both enterprises procured 48 tons of product (of which 30 tons were delivered to the Yamal Deer market).

It should be noted that the farms of the Yamal Peninsula in 2018 provided more than seventy thousand deer to slaughter shops. Private reindeer herders actively contributed to the last year's slaughter campaign. This year they do not demonstrate such high indicators as in 2018. It is noteworthy that if state-owned reindeer herders must hand over a clearly regulated number of reindeer for slaughter, private owners themselves decide how much livestock to provide to butchers.
It should be noted that today Yamal is testing the work of innovative complexes for slaughtering deer, the scale of which reaches 100 animals daily.
