Fruit tracking systems that allow fruit identification throughout the entire production chain exist in individual Ukrainian horticultural farms and producer associations. However, they are not yet being used to their full potential.
This was told by the director of gardening of the farm "Gadz" Taras Melnik. In particular, the use of tracking systems provides that when harvesting fruit boxes have individual numbers entered into the information system.
Information about the collected fruits is supplemented during the next stages of the production chain, including during loading into the chamber with indication of storage conditions.
In the system, you can create a database with the results of the analysis of the quality of the fruit immediately after harvesting. After storage, such fruits are sorted and prepared for sale, but information about their origin is not lost.
Based on such a database, you can give accurate information about the individual stages of the production chain.
In addition, recipients of goods in new markets expect or even require information about the origin of the fruit. Thus, the possibility of reproducing the history of a single batch of apples allows us to trace the protection program, and therefore the potential residues of plant protection products, Taras Melnik noted.
It is precisely taking into account the tracking of the plant protection system that must be certified annually in accordance with the international Global G.A.P. standard, which certifies the safety of their products for the end user.
In particular, the Gadz Sports Complex uses the latest software product to automatically record information at all stages of production. Such a system accumulates information about all production processes - from picking apples, weighing, transporting to storage chambers to shipment of fruits for sale.
