The Chinese method of growing pearls appealed to Ukrainian entrepreneurs. And now, experts from the Kherson Agricultural University intend to adapt the technology of Chinese developers in Ukraine.

“For the past six months, we have carefully studied the issue,” say scientists at the agricultural university. “As part of the experiment, we selected about a hundred oysters -“ pearls ”of two different subspecies.”

It should be noted that in the natural environment only one oyster out of a hundred can produce a pearl by force. And in order to collect an impressive harvest from one natural reservoir, oyster processing specialists need at least three years. To speed up the process, professionals build artificial ponds that inhabit thousands of oysters. And the first "pearl fruits" are reaping in a few months.

“If we manage to adapt the Chinese method of cultivation, then it will be possible to patent this adapted technology,” say the University of Kherson. “But now we are working out various options for the maintenance of various types of pearl-bearing mollusks in Ukrainian ponds in order to understand where to start mass production of precious formations.”
