Breeding leaders of the Stavropol Territory presented two sheep breeds to the public. New animals belong to the so-called fine-fleece and stand out for increased productivity against the background of their relatives. Moreover, these sheep demonstrate productivity wonders not only in wool, but also in meat.
Representatives of the new breeds adapt well to the conditions of arid steppes. And, according to “parents” breeders, these animals are perhaps the finest fleece sheep in Russia.
Innovative livestock is highly fertile, precocious, has an impressive live weight and already at the age of six months is an excellent weighty meat carcass after slaughter.Following the information released by the Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory, Alexei Rudenko, one of the new breeds is called the Jalgin merino. The second is Russian meat merino. The first one was brought out by the joint efforts of breeders of the Second Five-Year Plan breeding plant, which is located in the Ipatovo city district. The second was revealed to the world by developers from six households located in the Apanasenkovsky district.
It is reported that on average about one three and a half to four kilograms of wool can be sheared with a net weight of one sheep of the first or second breed.
