Today, under conditions of detention on a quarantine site in the Lev-Tolstovsky district of the Lipetsk region, 593 overseas pigs live. We are talking about tribal pigs that arrived in the Russian Federation from Canada.
Overseas animals were bought by employees of the Cherkizovo-Pig Production agricultural farm in order to establish reproduction of pigs of “meat” and hardy breed on Russian open spaces.
It is reported that the difficult and long journey from the Canadian pig-breeding nursery to the Lipetsk farm pigs successfully crossed without loss. Upon arrival in Russia, animals were examined by qualified employees of the General Directorate of Rosselkhoznadzor in the Lipetsk Region, as well as representatives of the regional veterinary service. The results of the audit showed that the pigs met the requirements of the veterinary and sanitary quality of the Russian Federation and were accompanied with all the necessary documentation and certificates.
Now pigs are in mandatory quarantine within the framework of the established rules for the reception of live cargo, but very soon the workers of the Cherkizovo-Pig Breeding Farm will begin replenishing the breeding stock of Canadian pigs in their cattle-breeding complex. It is noteworthy that at the moment the breeding of breeding pigs from Canada is a rare occurrence for Russian pig farmers.
