Zhytomyr City Council supported the idea of ​​replacing environmentally harmful plastic bags with ecological bags yesterday, April 23.

Deputies made a decision "On the restriction of the use of plastic bags in the territory of the Zhytomyr United Territorial Community." Based on the document, the Zhytomyr City Council recommends that outlets limit the use of plastic bags.

The developers believe that thanks to such actions in the future there will be a leisurely replacement of plastic bags with bags of environmental materials. The draft decision restricting the use of plastic containers on the lands of the Zhytomyr UTO was initiated by the deputy of the city council Irina Yarmolenko.

She believes that this innovation can draw public attention to climate and environmental changes in the world. But accepting such a document is only the beginning. In the future, in Zhitomir it is necessary to conduct mass educational work with the aim of attracting the public to the use of environmental products.

Irina Yarmolenko herself came to the session with a string bag and the latest technology to show that we are only guests on this planet, and it is very important that we leave our descendants after ourselves. By his own example, the deputy encourages the use of eco-bags and pouches instead of plastic bags.

The head of Zhytomyr Sergey Sukhomlin said that to facilitate the transition of consumers from plastic bags to eco-bags, the executive bodies of local authorities are planning to implement a project in cooperation with city entrepreneurs, within which retail chains and local manufacturers will be able to get branded eco-bags.
