The reindeer herders of Kolyma will spend this week in the city of Evensk - there, from March 28 to March 29, a professional congress of industry experts will be held.

It is noted that the cultivation of deer and their processing are a priority segment of the Kolyma agro-industrial complex. The congress of field professionals is held in the region once every two years.

Hundreds of delegates from various reindeer herding facilities and structures gather to communicate with each other, share experience and establish useful contacts. This year, guests of the event will be able to meet with reindeer herders from the municipal brigades of the Irbychan unitary type agricultural enterprise, as well as with representatives of tribal communities of various northern peoples, the number of which is declining annually. Reindeer herders of their Magadan communities of the Srednekansky, North Evensk regions, as well as guests from the Omsukchan territories are expected to arrive.

The organizers of the event emphasize that the congress will be held in a traditional manner. In other words, it will not do without round tables, seminars and debates on the topic of maintaining the number of reindeer.

Also, the congress participants will discuss the material and technical base of reindeer husbandry, available resources, the necessary subsidies and the introduction of new technologies. They will touch upon the topic of training qualified personnel, because today this issue is relevant and rather problematic in the industry of Russian professional reindeer husbandry.
